What FTP upload address should I be using?

The hosting FTP server name is : upload.highway1.com.au


Can I run scripts and databases on Standard Hosting?

Yes, you can run PHP and HTML.


What is the address of the web space that comes free with my dialup or ADSL account?

Please contact Highway 1 to setup your personal website space. When setup it will be available at http://users.highway1.com.au/~username (Where "username" is replaced by your specific username)


What file types can Highway 1 support?

html, shtml, cgi, php, asp and .aspx


Do you run non-standard components? Can I find out the versions?

Yes, we run the following additional components for Pro-Windows customers:

  • Persits Software AspEmail 5.0.0.5
  • ActivePerl 5.8.8 build 822
  • Persits Software AspJpeg 2.0.0.0
  • Persits Software Aspupload 3.0.0.6
  • Subsystem for Unix-Based Applications
  • PR-Tracker 5.10

Where can I find my web statistics?

Web statistics generated by AWSTATS can now be found as a subdirectory under your domain. For example:

www.acme.com.au/webstats/

If your domain does not have the "/webstats/" folder configured or you do not have a username and password to access this area please contact support@highway1.com.au.

Please note that personal webspace that is provided free with ADSL and dialup connections does not have web statistics.


Can I install my own third party applications?

Not typically. We recommend a co-located server for this purpose.


How can I put a form on my web page and have the results emailed to me?

Please see our Form Mail Support page for help on how to put a form on your Highway 1 hosted website.


Where can I find my personal web space that came with my DSL connection?

If you would like to take advantage of the personal web space feature of your DSL plan please contact our Service Desk to setup your web account.


How do I upload files to Highway 1?

These instructions assume you have Windows 2000/ME/XP or Vista. We recommend using FileZilla to transfer files.

  1. Download FileZilla (FTP)
  2. Run (double click on the downloaded file) to install the application
  3. Click "I Agree"
  4. Click Next
  5. Click Next (Components)
  6. Click Next (Location)
  7. Click Install
  8. Click Finish
  9. Run FileZilla
  10. Click "File" then "Site Manager"
  11. Click "New Site" Button
  12. Type upload.highway1.com.au (In the My Site list)
  13. Enter the following information in the General Tab
    • Host : upload.highway1.com.au
    • Server Type : FTP - File Transfer Protocol
    • Logon Type: normal
    • User: [your username]
    • Password: [your password]
  14. Click Connect
  15. The program will now connect to the upload server.
  16. The two windows now show files on your pc and the web server. You can navigate the folders on each and drag and drop files from one to the other to upload and download files.
  17. Once you have finished you can close FileZilla.
  18. Your files will now be uploaded to the web server.
